The Circuito del Abuelo is more than just a route—it’s a legacy. We first rode it in 2020, and since then it has become one of our toughest and most unforgettable challenges, second only to La Yesca.
Starting from the Magical Town of Etzatlán, known for its mining past and the world-record “Cielo Tejido,” the route takes us through historic towns such as San Marcos (founded in 1740), Amatlán de Cañas with its Jesuit heritage and hot springs, and authentic communities that preserve the soul of Mexico, like Estancia de los López, El Rosario, and Barranca del Oro.
With 4 mountain passes, including a Category 1 climb and the legendary Hors Catégorie ascent of Amatlán de Cañas, this 168 km / +3,507 m challenge is a journey to the edge of endurance—where effort turns into pride, and every pedal stroke becomes part of history.
